In-person. 1 session: Saturday, February 11, 10am-3pm CST
The interview is at the core of most documentary projects and getting it right can make or break your project. This workshop will focus on the procedural elements that can help you to get the most out of your subject and the technical elements that will make it look and sound professional. We’ll discuss who to interview and how to get that interview, how to structure your questions for different situations and effect, how to support and direct your subject, and how to get what you need for the cutting room. A hands-on technical session in the afternoon will include options regarding where and how to stage an interview, including composition, lighting, and sound. There is a lunch break.
